sometimes i feel so sad and hopeless being a women in society that i genuinely don’t know how i can live my life and handle it. i know to have community and comfort with other women, it just feels like it gets harder. does anyone else feel this way?

All the time, especially when I talk to men. Hearing how they view us is heartbreaking at times and very fucking annoying at others. The best ways I’ve found to handle it is to have a bit of spite. They don’t want to see you succeed, so you succeed anyway to prove them wrong. Remove yourself from places that hurt you, including social media. Don’t bother giving rude or ignorant people a moment of your time

I realistically starts at the top. Our literal president is a convicted rapist. The protections laws are laxed, most victims get harassed, they’ve made it clear your body is apparently not your choice and everything needs to align with religious beliefs, which are also notoriously not women friendly, and it becomes an example for young men growing up copying what their parents are doing or saying. It seems like a reasonable thing to treat others how you want to be treated, but apparently not?

You don’t think a minority male feels similar?

A lot of my closest friends are girls, I promise you that not all men are evil to girls and want to see them fail. I think those guys just have a really big ego and hate the idea of someone being better than them while also being sexist. I swear there are some good blokes out there

yeah i know, i have a wonderful bf who is incredibly supportive, even when i feel this way. it’s just that it truly is so many men that when i get groceries or go to classes, usually i have a bad experience with one and that’s enough for it to get to me.

it’s also not just individual men, it’s also when i watch a show or see an ad or anything yk, and there’s obvious sexism. just gets to you after a while
