That’s a basic social engineering tactic that is tried and true. Most people enjoy hearing their name when being spoken to. It has an endearing effect. When you speak to a stranger like a receptionist or something over the phone and they tell you their name, usually they are more eager to help you when you say their name during the conversation. It’s not just a man/woman thing. It works when you say a man’s name back to him too. I love doing that. The way they light up.
