Pt 2: “messengers” called prostaglandins. Some people produce more which makes it worse. Prostaglandins cause our uterus to tighten which cuts off blood flow, which then cuts off oxygen, which causes severe cramps and burning. Think of when you get a calf cramp. Or a Charley horse. That’s what we are getting, but deeper in our bodies and more intense. For 7 days straight. With no relief.
It’s not just cramps, I get pain in my lower back and a super sore crotch which hurts so bad if I’m not sitting on a solid surface (toilet doesn’t help), my breasts get really sensitive and occasionally it feels like little lightning strikes inside them, and I’m prone to headaches and nausea, and none of these are uncommon symptoms
Yeah you’d be surprised how normalized extreme menstrual pain is. Like to the point where you can’t tell the difference between that and an appendicitis (and it happens every single time) is not normal. People gaslight afabs all the time. My friend had untreated and undiagnosed endometriosis for years and only found out she had it when she needed a pelvic X-ray for something else. Every time somebody talks about menstrual pain this extreme I think the same thing you just said, but I can’t say it
So 2 is absolutely right, at least for me. My apendex almost burst when I was about 10/11 and I often liken my period pain to that level. Sometimes it can go beyond that. 1 in 10 women probably have endometriosis but obviously our healthcare is not very good. There’s a lot I can say on this topic but yes cramping can last 7 days. My cramps last about 9-13 days.
I can’t imagine ever living in a state that’s more conservative than a swing state. I’ve lived in Massachusetts my whole life except for when I studied abroad in Salamanca. And omg Spain is so much more liberal than the US on average. I was looking into immigrating to Australia or New Zealand, but for what I want to do I’d be making less money while having the same cost of living. So I decided on New Mexico instead.
