Is chris Hansen a hero who raised awareness of the dangers online child predators? Is he a villain who exploited a serious problem for self serving capitalistic reasons? Could both be true?

I say hero. Nobody’s 100% a saint, but he’s been doing this for over 20 years, showing families that this is an ongoing problem. One of the biggest things people learned from him is that online predators can come from anywhere and how important it is for children to be safe online and adopt safer habits.

How was it for self serving capitalistic reasons? The whole point of his campaign was to raise awareness, and the reason it stopped airing was because they ran into a politician during a sting. Also, if he was self serving, he wouldn’t still be doing a lot of work after his segments stopped airing. He still attends online safety conferences and hosts sessions for parents to inform them about the dangers that children encounter online. It’s still his main job. It’s not for the money or publicity
