I feel like taking her shopping for like some new clothes or school supplies etc could help her get more excited about school

there was absolutely nothing i loved more as a kid than a back to school mall trip. that said, if that really doesn’t feel right to you, start that college fund. while it won’t bring her any joy now, at 5, i speak as a 22 year old to say that it would make an adult feel very loved

Yeah the ROI on the college fund won’t come to fruition for 13 years… I know OP said she’s not into material things, but a 5 year old isn’t thinking about that And beyond the material things, OP, I’m sure she’d love to spend a day with her cool aunt at the mall 🥹
