I’m embarrassed by how much I spit and gag, I once had a hygienist say “I’ve never seen someone react like that to just water”

No I feel the exactly the same, it always feels a little awkward even though it’s such a basic thing, but if you think about it they’ve probably seen thousands of people swallow in their careers so it’s probably fine for us dentist goers

Luckily now that I see an adult dentist they’re all like “no it’s okay, take your time, let me know if you need a break, you’re not bothering me at all” and when I went to a pediatric/special needs dentist it was very much the opposite
