Has anyone here gotten plastic surgery? I am 21 and have wanted my nose done as long as I can remember.I think about it everyday and it keeps me up at night. When I’m not at school I live with my parents permanently so I have to tell them first.

I haven’t had a rhinoplasty but I got a septoplasty which is similar, they say the recovery period is super easy but it’s really not. They use stents in your nasal cavities that give you a constant headache, plus your nose constantly OOZES for like 1-2 weeks after. It’s quite nasty. Plus I’m pretty sure the rhinoplasty is ever worse

How could I tell them…? I think my mom is wildly against plastic surgery. I once mentioned lip filler and she went on a whole rant. But I literally think this is the only way to help my mental health…it consumes my thoughts how much I hate my nose.

Can you even afford this is what you should be asking first off lmao

Get it done. Save your money and schedule a free consult with a plastic surgeon after looking around. Get all the facts and have the plan ready. I say have a friend, sibling or even your dad take you and then pick you up after surgery

i pay $10/session with basic cheapass insurance, and most cosmetic procedures are not covered

Truth be told the cost of the nose job is negligible if for her this issue is granted to disappear when done

so if it consumes your thoughts, no amount of plastic surgery is going to fix it for you. your brain will just invent some new 'flaw' to fixate on because the issue isn't actually your nose

I say stop dwelling on it and make it happen. If it’s something you want and you think you would benefit from it why not. I had a friend get her nose done at 18 - doesn’t regret it one bit.

I mean I’m still in the stage where I haven’t made a consultation, and online it says the price varies a lot so I plan on making a consultation then saving my money

Yea that is what I’m going to do. Do you know how did she tell her parents at 18?

Whoops I read your comment wrong. While this is true, my biggest issue is my nose. And it’s really the only thing I’ve ever gotten negative comments on. I know it would make me feel a lot better because I’ve felt the same way since 6th grade.

Also I am defenitely getting it done at some point like there’s no question about it, which is why I figured why not do it while I’m still young I don’t wanna wait till I’m 30

If you’re still living with parents you cannot afford tbh that money should be put in a retirement account

Well I only still live with them because I’m still in college, so when I’m away at college I don’t live with them but obviousely when I come back I do. When I graduate I won’t be living with them

this may be an unpopular opinion, but i would at least wait until you’re around 25, the cortices of your brain responsible for making major life choices have finished developing, and you have way more disposable income in an established career to get revisions if something goes wrong or you don’t like it

because if your physical appearance is causing you this much mental anguish now, god forbid the surgery goes wrong and you are stuck with a botched face and didn’t budget for revisions

Yea, I’ve considered that. The only thing that pushes me to still want it just as bad as that I feel the same way I did in 6th grade. So if I’ve felt the same that long what would change from 21 to 25. I’ve had multiple guys point out my nose and it makes me feel really bad about myself. I don’t see any other way for me to feel differently about this without actually changing my nose.
