it's usually pretty easy to tell a compliment from being hit on. if a guy says "you look great in that" or something and then goes on with his day, i don't think he's coming on to me

Maybe just compliment a specific trait? Like outfit, hair, etc. Or just be straight up if you’re comfortable. 😊

maybe just a genuine "im so sorry to bother but i saw u & think u look gorgeous/ur outfit is beautiful/ur hair is stunning/etc thats all bye" like its once u start sticking around & pushing for more convo that would make me feel like u wanted more than just to give a compliment

I’d say there needs to be chemistry first for a bit like seeing each other in public a few times and be subtle about it. If she has chemistry, that subtle hint she knows what it means. Take care to tell the difference in admiration versus actual attraction. Admiration will show she likes you but will not choose you and that is fine too and do not be phased. Once you are good at this, you can hone in on the one that does choose you without drama.
