I find this hilarious as someone who grew up gay and disabled in the Deep South in the late 90’s. Man, I wish I had a dollar or 2 for every time I was called a slur, told to go 💀 myself or violently assaulted by Conservatives. I thank God every day that my Dad had to move to Washington for his job. I really think I’d have either been beaten to death or 💀 myself before I finished HS.
Exactly my point. Tell that to the many people of color that get looped in with them. The ppl that are practically being denied to access to basic citizen rights bc they’re transgender. The gas prices increasing. Ppl being harmed and stripped from families. The ppl that even though they have proof of citizenship, STILL being deported just bc of their race enough as is. ICE literally saying they are trained to go against the constitution so they’re against ppl’s constitutional rights
Many conservatives have separated themselves from Trump for this very reason. MAGA is its own little political bubble that started on the right, but now is its own party altogether. And no that doesn’t mean those conservatives including myself are going to become liberal, we still hold the opinions we held 10 years ago, we haven’t shifted, the politicians have.
Well in all fairness, the approval rating is based on his performance as President, not a judgement of character. And so as much as I hate the guy, he’s supporting conservative policies which is what the conservatives voted for. It’s awful, but when considering who to vote for, people have to assess the effects of each candidates policies on their day to day lives. Trump is an egomaniacal pedophile, but the alternative is to vote to raise income tax to 40% and let millions of illegals roam free
the key word there is "stay". the MAGA true-believers are already in a completely isolated media ecosystem, I have no ability to affect or engage with them in any way at all. I'm personally fine with engaging people across the spectrum if the opportunity comes up, but I'm also a white guy so it's not my rights getting destroyed. when people of color or LGBTQ people outright hate conservatives, I cannot blame them at all.
Yeah I was asking if you were rage baiting. There’s a lot of rights that have been taken away from women. I could start and explain Roe V Wade but the one I am most concerned about is the attempt to get the Save Act passed. Also of course, ICE has been what is basically kidnapping people off the street and it’s become a lot more problematic to be just openly different from the expectation of America.
Even though I disagree with abortion, I understand your point of view on it. In my mind, the baby also has the right to life, so that’s my perspective. I think the SAVE act would be great at preventing fraudulent voters, but if it passes then the government should make getting IDs free to prevent a poll tax. Illegal immigrants don’t have a “right” to stay in the country as they have broken the law, on the other hand, ICE is untrained and not going about it correctly.
For the save act we don’t have a lot of fraudulent voters. The problem is if they did make it pass there is no way they would make ID’s free. If they did I wouldn’t care. But because it’s going to heavily affect female voters, who vote democrat mostly, it’s just a way to try and make their people win more.
I can see how the SAVE act has some issues that haven’t been ironed out yet, I still think some form of voter fraud prevention and citizenship verification should be implemented, especially since the last 3 elections have been decided by a 1%-2% margin. Even if it only happens a little, it has a big impact. The SAVE act might not be the correct solution, but a solution is needed.
But even if it’s been decided by those small margins we have less than 50 cases of voter fraud from people. We need to be more worried about how those in power are doing this to influence the election, rather than make it harder for the average person to vote. Americans already don’t vote enough
I am for the redistribution of wealth because of how it’s so systemic. To be poor costs more money than to be rich in some cases (example: buying in bulk). It’s made for them to have worse levels of education and our college system makes it nearly impossible to escape one’s circumstances if they were not lucky enough to be born into a family with wealth.
