How do I find myself a man who is marriage-minded and family oriented but without having to go to church? I am not a religious person

Christ is awesome and a great guy to have around. I would recommend getting that first then finding a good church man. Become a better person through the church

OP, don’t listen to them. Find a guy who has principles and isn’t a braggart. But I would just give it time, you got your entire life ahead of you

Open your mind to the idea of marrying a religious person.

Everyone pushing for church fucking sucks, not everyone wants to be delusional lol. There are good men who aren’t religious, I’d say easier to find than good religious men.

I’m not the one who opened with saying other people fucking suck and are delusional. Maybe you should check the mirror once in a while.

I’m not the one pushing religion on someone who clearly doesn’t want it, now am I? It’s completely warranted to say anyone pushing anything on someone who doesn’t want it sucks. And religion being delusion is just my opinion.

I’m not either, I said open your mind to being with someone who holds beliefs you might not. But I guess if I think asking someone like you to tolerate someone else’s beliefs is a reasonable suggestion, I might be delusional after all.

Most major religions ban marrying outside of the religion, not to mention people are attracted to people who have shared values with them.

Your opinion can still be stated politely. Saying “not everyone believes in religion” is okay, saying “not everyone wants to be delusional” is you being a dick.

Actually no, the four largest religions in the world are Christianity, Islam, Hinduism, and Buddhism. Neither Hinduism nor Buddhism prohibit interfaith marriages, and most Christian denominations don’t forbid it either. Only Islam outright forbids interfaith marriage, and even then only for Islamic women; Islamic men are allowed to take Christian or Jewish wives, but are restricted from marrying outside of abrahamic faiths.

Why dont christians ever respect other’s beliefs and then expect them to get respect of their religion in return??

As a Christian I’d guess a lot of em didn’t read the bible and/or they get the majority of their religious views from Fox News

Thats what I think as an ex-christian I remember reading a passage where they aren’t supposed to judge people or they will be judged the sane way so no christian alive should ever say someone is sinning or going to hell since its not their place to talk

Yeah literally Jesus Christ says not to judge others unless you yourself are perfect (a paraphrase). I’m pretty sure i know the passage you’re thinking of too

A lot of people use the good book to manipulate their beliefs. There are a lot of Things I do agree with but people dont go about it the right way. The most important thing is to love God above all else and then love your neighbor as yourself. That means all people must have their dignity preserved. I will also say, as a Catholic, I believe I am right which therefore means everyone else who disagrees with me is wrong. I LOVE my Muslim professor and we get into some really cool philosophical…

…discussions about God and creation and mathematically proving it (electrical engineering). I LOVE this man and he’s not only a great professor but so spiritual and I have such a great deal of respect for him. Respectfully, despite how fucked up some people are, don’t group all of us together like that. It’s rude and unfair. I’m sorry you’ve had some bad experiences and I recognize the bigotry in some Christians but keep your heart open continuously despite that.

There is no right or wrong when it comes to religion its all arbitrary and an opinion

Yes, there is. If you believe something in your heart to be true then anything defying that must therefore be wrong. It’s definitely not arbitrary. You have the right to think differently than me and not share my belief system but it’s definitely not arbitrarily. Christ is King.

Its just not real snd you know no one can prove any existence of a god so I dont understand why people get mad when you clearly say that religion is make-believe because its all man-made stories about what happens after death since no one really knows. Besides wanting something to be real will never make something happen out of nothing, I can’t just say ‘well unicorns are something I believe in so they might as well be real because that would be nice and you cant disagree with me’

I concur. You shouldn’t put people down, but as a Christian I can’t lie and say that all religions are true. It’s my duty, actually; to try to save more people. Do I judge them? No.

It’s not that you can’t disagree with us. It’s moreso that we believe our beliefs lead to heaven, so we want to share them with people so the most people get to enjoy heaven. No offense was meant on my part.

Saying it’s all made up and man-made is so dismissive so this is my last comment to you now because clearly you are so angry and wounded by this. I also said you CAN disagree with me which is your right as an American. But the dismissive nature is so nasty. I do respect your willingness to stand firmly on your belief system but you are going about it in such a nasty way.

Yes!! Not all religions are true! You believe in yours and therefore everyone else is wrong. Religious pluralism is the apolitical belief of religion. Like stand up for something! However, you should judge people. We’re supposed to judge people but in a righteous way. It’s tough to do so and remain humble without acting like you are morally superior (or at least I struggle with that), but still despite someone’s wrongdoings, give them love and help them maintain their dignity.

When the Pharisees want to stone a woman to death for committing adultery, Jesus says ‘he who is without sin can cast the first stone’. He then tells her ‘I do not condemn you; go now and sin no more’ He doesnt say ‘go back to adultering and dont let anyone tell you to stop’. Don’t judge or you’ll be judged doesn’t mean never say anything about sin; it’s forgiving past transgressions while encouraging a better future, as opposed to condemning for past transgressions and writing off their future
