Is it bad that I already lost interest in a guy I was talking to because he asked me what my favorite marvel character was then I asked him and he replied with not one but TWO dc characters...

it also just gave me flashbacks to the numerous of times guys claimed they were "nerdy" and liked "nerdy" things just to make me like them while it seemed very performative...

Yes it’s bad. If there is a man who is willing to love you and be with you but you dump him over little shit like that then as of now you don’t deserve a relationship. Remember you 2 are both your own separate individuals

Disguising oneself intentionally to seem more appealing is not trivial.

How was he disguising himself?? He asked her favorite marvel character, he didn’t say “I’m a huge marvel fan”

Oh ok, I mean at that point u have much more forgiveness for trivial things like this. But if I were you I would just give the guy a chance

Because on my profile it says im a mega nerd, he leads a conversation off with asking about my fave marvel character then ends it with talking about characters that don't exist in the marvel universe, just thought it was a bit misleading at the very least

Also his profile said he was a huge comic fan maybe I should've added rhat

I don't want to be in another situation where a guy just says anything for me to like him. I just want them to be authentic

God forbid a man is curious about your interests. Maybe he’s asking bc he doesn’t know about it and wants to learn more. I actually think most women would consider this cute and endearing and if a girl did this I would think the same

I don't think you should speak for most women as a man...

You omitted important information and that’s my fault apparently. And yes in most cases you are correct but I there are a few things I know. Most women like flowers, most women like men who care abt their interests and most women don’t like men who are dicks to them. Man or not we can all agree on this (I hope)

No one said it was your fault, all I said was everyone else seemed to understand what I said perfectly, which meant that information wasn't as vital as you're making it. Which also means it was only valuable to you.

Just bc 1 person (the only other people just called u a nerd) assumed and guessed correctly doesn’t mean that everyone else will. It very well could’ve been the case that he didn’t say he was a fan and he just asked bc he was curious which would’ve changed the entire situation. Ik technically u didn’t say it was my fault but when u say “well it’s not my fault…” it implies fault on the other

No, I think #3 has a point. If OP had brought up the topic of Marvel, say in response to a question about their interests, and the guy asked them what their favorite Marvel character was in response to that, I wouldn’t call that deceptive or disguising oneself. Idk how you can genuinely be a comic book fan without knowing the difference between Marvel and DC though.
