So this guy is into me and just asked me to download snapchat. As a 20 yr old I think snapchat is so childish and a poor form of communication especially if you’re genuinely interested in someone. How do I say this without coming off as condescending?

everyone has their own preferred methods of communication, I’m not sure snap is inherently childish even if more likely to be used in a childish way. You’re fully welcome to ask him to download insta or discord or whatever else you use.

Ehhh maam, im 24 and still use Snapchat daily! How is Snapchat “childish”. What would you prefer, your number (more private and personal info)? Or would you prefer a hand written letter in cursive delivered in person by him riding a white stallion?

safer? 😭🙏 you literally have to give snapchat your number to make an account and then they sync to your contacts. and snapchat is so childish. “wyd?” “wyll?” that prefrontal cortex needs to fully develop holy brain dead.

Um you do realize people can send those acronyms on any other platform right?? You know you don’t have to act like a wannabe gangster right

the fact remains that people are more likely to have those kinds of boring, lackluster conversations on snap because that’s the culture of snapchat. i have literally never had a man or woman text me like that because texting doesn’t have that atmosphere. and this opinion is based on my personal experience with snapchat, no one’s trying to be a “wannabe gangster”. i personally feel like a person comes off as more mature when they ask for my phone number rather than my snap.

Real like I genuinely don’t see the appeal of an app that does everything iMessage does. The only difference is that messages/pics can disappear from the viewer’s pov (snapchat actually saves all messages and images in a database).

My number actually. The power of blocking is actually so great. Read my other comments to understand why I find it childish.

The weird thing is he has asked for my number and my insta (which I gave him both). And he utilizes both…

yeah, in that case I’m not really sure, you don’t need to communicate in 3 different ways at once

Okay yeah you can blocked people on snap too. But the fact is if someone has your number they can find out where you live relatively easier than snap (since you can turn off location)

How TF is it safe if you can see ppl on the snap chat map?? They could potentially track you down waaay easier that way 😭

Girll blocking can only get you so far tf 😭. Men (even the ones u least expect) can end up becoming crazy. I have gotten sent anonymous texts (they bought a fake number), gotten spammed calls, found and spammed on my personal email (had to block on them too), taken secretly pictures of, etc. It’s clear that obv you haven’t encountered these situations (thankfully) because it’s fucking miserable. Being ignorant gets you nowhere. It’s def safer than giving out your number
