I feel like talking stage means something different to everyone, but in my mind at least it means you're not yet in a relationship

Talking stage is like test driving different cars, started dating is like purchasing one car that you really likes, break up is when you sell it

If we’re ready to be exclusive, why bother with a talking stage? Why not just be in a relationship? And as a guy if you assume she’s being exclusive when you haven’t discussed it, you’re just way too naive to be dating. Or, like, functioning independently for that matter
