the targeted killing of women in some societies. an example i can think of is the old severe preference for male progeny in India, which led to many forced terminations and is why it is now illegal for a doctor to reveal to a parent the sex of their baby in India

Maybe Im wrong but I do believe that femicide is more of a systemic killing of women due to them being women but maybe Im wrong lol
