Because men are taught that women should manage their emotions for them and take care of them but men are never taught to do the same for women. That also ends up hurting men because they never learn how to manage their own emotions or take care of themselves.

If you don’t have the problems you struggle to understand the problems. If we’re being honest.

So bc of that you’re incapable of empathizing with jus people in general you literally said you have a gf and ik you definitely have friends who aren’t in the same position as you. Like im glad you’re well and seem humble abt it but I think jus shows the issue w people as a whole we only see ourselves and our own situation and never really internalize anything about the other people around us is developing empathy for others so hard?

Not incapable. I just struggle to relate to problems I have not and likely will not ever experience. It’s actually something i am actively working on specifically because ill never understand what women mean when they say they feel unsafe.

That’s good that ur actively working on that but you don’t have to be an expert on the “feeling” in order to empathize you have to recognize that something is real and talk to people who have that lived experience and not be judgemental through the process

I will genuinely never empathize with people. All i can do is attempt to sympathize with people. I cannot feel emotions i have never felt for someone else unfortunately

Are you just a sociopath then??? Every person who doesn’t fall into that category of neurodivergent can feel empathy for others it’s part of our evolutionary history to be able to empathize and connect with others

Well I hope you get the support you need. Just so you know you don’t need to feel someone else’s emotions/pain to have empathy all you need is to have an understanding of it. For example, if you’ve ever been sad about something you can therefore comprehend the emotion of sadness. If someone may be sad about something completely different you can still relate to the feeling of sadness even if the emotion wasn’t derived from the same place. You’re overthinking empathy just want to help.

Ha! I figured you were neurodivergent. You probably do have empathy, but it just doesn’t fall within the bounds of what you expect it to look like. I’ve questioned whether I have empathy but then ended up crying in weird situations. For me, I think I process empathy slowly. When people tell me things I should empathize with, I am too preoccupied with trying to help to process my feelings too.

I find it easier to experience and process empathy when reading a book. There’s no time limit and no pressure to respond and be helpful.

There’s a difference between empathy and sympathy. Everyone can experience empathy regardless of circumstances, whereas sympathy is what you are describing of being able to relate. Lacking empathy is bad, lacking sympathy is entirely normal
