That energy needs to go somewhere. It doesn’t need to be a hobby. Get some paint and some canvas paper. Find a video of Bob Ross and as a family activity try to copy him.

Maybe not what you’re looking for, but even just looking at these comments it’s obvious that men are not a monolith. I don’t know your father, but you do, so I honestly think you’re the most “qualified” to answer this question. I’m just a stranger with a Y chromosome. That said, rest in peace to your Grandma, I wish your entire family & your father well 🙏

Give him space. Yeah. Men seek isolation often enough when they are struggling with something. Little things help though, something as small as making him food or telling him you appreciate something he did for the family. One time a stranger opening a door for me and asking if I was okay on the worst day of my life (at that point) prevented me from walking off into the woods and waiting for everyone to die. Little things in dark times go a long way.

Reach out and let him know you’re there if he needs it. Offer the support. Even if he doesn’t take it, knowing the resource is there is often enough. Try to engage him in doing things. Ask to go see a movie, go to a local attraction, get lunch/dinner.

Just do something that makes him feel loved. Even if it’s something as simple as sitting with him on the sofa and not saying anything
