Physical game. No element of randomness. Set time format. Rules that govern. Its hits all the basic principles tbh

I agree that chess is def not a sport in any real sense, sports necessarily have a component of physicality not present in chess. However, it is equally as difficult as sports for difference reasons

For the exact same reasons that reading books is considered a sport.

if you consider sitting down and moving pieces a physical activity... you must be 500lbs 😭

by physical he means a game that takes up space in the real world as opposed to digital like a video game

and tbf games are considered "e-sports" too, so ngl i think sports just refers to any widespread game or hobby (physical digital etc) that has a big competitive aspect to it

Do you have like brain issues? They obv mean physical in a like tangible way like a physical object not a physical activity

yeah i also don't consider "e-sports" to be real sports either and by physical activity I meant athletic activity. sorry i thought that was obvious. im not calling someone who plays chess or an e-sport an athlete. i think that physical activity should be required when it comes to sports. i really think they just started to consider those things sports so it would be more inclusive to those who don't have athletic ability. i say fuck that lol.

Sport doesn’t inherently imply athleticism. Competitive bowling is a sport that requires skill, but not any particular degree of athleticism. I mean hell, shooting is a sport, and you don’t have to be fit to aim a gun.

What about professional golf? How athletic do you need to be to drive between stations on a cart?

It’s a sport to <1% of the population. Idk why you’re even talking about it

and those shouldn't be considered a sport either including golf. thats more of a hobby

You seriously think Tiger Woods is just a hobbyist?

How about NASCAR? Is racing just a hobby?

The issue here isn’t that the rest of the world is wrong, it’s that you’re holding to an objectively incorrect definition of what constitutes a sport.

I don’t care for Bill Clinton either, but that doesn’t mean he wasn’t a U.S. President

i would consider Tiger Woods a professional golfer. Athlete tho? Not really. I don't think it should've come back to the olympics
