As a guy whose best friend was raped by a guy it’s a shame that false allegations exist as they can truly harm the accused. But real allegations should be taken seriously

Have a friend who was sent to jail under a false rape allegation. The accuser was a white woman, he’s a foreign African black student, the system isn’t exactly meant to give people like him a fair shot. He was taken by the cops against his will in the middle of the semester to jail for 6 months before his trial even happened. His internship dropped him, most of his friends/family ditched him, and his reputation was ruined. Come trial time it ends up getting proven she made it all up

My friend got kicked out of his school and has still not completely recovered, because 8 years ago a girl he rejected got mad and falsely accused him. She later took it all back and said it never happened, she never faced any consequences over it. I’m still afraid of false allegations and mostly steer clear of close distance relationships

Do you mean false allegations specifically, or just allegations in general? I’d say rape allegations are usually life ruining, but false allegations, while they exist, aren’t common.

It depends on what your definition of common is. Like, most guys will not have their life ruined by a false accusation. But most guys know at least one guy who has been falsely accused.

I don’t think it’s common, it happens but not often enough for me to think it’s a real worry
