Why is seeing a movie musical gay? My boyfriend refuses to go see Wicked: For Good with me, when he was fine watching the first one at home and even said he enjoyed it, so idk why know all of a sudden it's "gay"

Fragile masculinity, but most guys aren’t into musicals in general whether they think they’re “gay” or not

I don’t like musicals tbh I find them boring and unimmersive, but I would prolly suck it up and sit through it to make a gf happy

As a guy who does still enjoy theatre stuff and occasionally musicals, I honestly do find myself sometimes being annoyed at musicals because it can feel like omg progress the story stop signing but it may have just been a bad show bc I also have loved some things like Hamilton

NGL, i think 85%+ of men find musicals innately annoying or boring. It’s not “gay” we just dislike it.

i don't like musicals very much because it's a bit cringe and unrealistic when people break out into song every 5 minutes. also ig theater type outfits and designs aren't really for me, just out of preference. it feels a little over the top sometimes

i feel like musicals way more entertaining and immersive than regular films 💀 i literally fall asleep in most movies and the music keeps me engaged

he enjoyed the first one tho. said it was good and the set design was sick. i don't understand the switch up. plus like we have tickets to see the nutcracker in december with my family (my sister is in it) and he agreed to go to that which is even more boring bc they don't even speak and it's just dancing & music like at least a musical has dialogue 😭

i mean like you could say that about every marvel or star wars movie. imo they are unrealand over the top. ig maybe it is abt preference what im more confused abt is why he doesn't want to see the second movie when he enjoyed the first

i mean it's one thing to be an unrealistic genre, but it's another thing to break out into song every 5 minutes

It’s not meant to be realistic though? This is like people saying they don’t like abstract art because it’s not realistic. That’s fine if you don’t like it but you’re grading off the wrong scale because they weren’t trying to be realistic
