This is mostly interesting in the way it reflects men’s body counts are very concentrated at the lower level while women’s tend to be mostly concentrated at the mid and higher range. Obviously these results would be different if I had the same number of participants on both sides so I may wait until I do and then compare again. This is all just for funsies so I thought I’d share my results
But it shouldn’t be surprising anymore than rich people wanting lower taxes. If women didn’t have constant immediate access to sex they’d have lower body counts tolerances, if men had easier access to sex, they justify all of their sex with attempting to make high body a social norm.
I think a lot of people actually answered these posts based on what they view is a high sex count for the other sex. However since I only received a few comments I can’t confirm this. Generally though men tend to have a higher body count than women, this was not asking for personal body count but rather what was considered high.
Arguably, I’d say sex for men is easier than it is for women. Social stigmas tend to criticize women much more harshly for being sex positive than it does men, as well as labeling things on women as sexual that aren’t inherently true and hold double standards when compared to men. But that wasn’t the intent of my poll.
Its multifaceted. 1.The default setting of men are evil, dangerous, and scary. Women don’t experience that social stigma and the consequences of it at all. One consequence is who does the “pursuing”. Its typically men pursuing women in attempt to present themselves as favorable mates and not evil scumbags. Women refuse to pursue because of safety. 2. The heterosexual baseline of attraction is lopsided. Women are significantly less physically attracted to the male population than vice versa.
Ah okay, do you have any sources of bavk this up? I’m genuinely always interested in these things. I’m trying very hard to make it work so I can have a double minor and one be Women and genders studies. And while I do think this is generally interesting, I am still not seeing the connection between this and the poll, which is examining what each gender views as a high body count.
Ohh that is very interesting and I’ll have to look into it! I don’t have an actual source and more of just word of mouth so this should be taken with a grain of salt, but I have heard most men on dating apps seem more inclined to wanting sex than they do a real relationship and more women want the opposite which could explain why many women weren’t approaching the men.
I guess the connection to your poll which is interesting is that its not surprising that the gender with easier access to sex thinks that high body counts are normal. There’s a reason frats allow girls in free, clubs allow women in free, IRL dating events are majority men, dating apps are majority men. Men go overboard teetering on desperation to the point of often being creepy for female attention that’s rarely if ever reciprocated.
That’s interesting, and could definitely hold true if people answered with my original intent of what’s generally a high body count. Women can more easily find a sex willing man and also see how easy (which is a sucky word but Im not sure what other one to use) men can be and have a higher standard for what’s too much. Men however find much fewer women willing to have sex and thus their idea of what’s too high is skewered. I.E, if someone is given an opportunity to have 100 apples a day, -
if we assume everyone answered with what’s considered high for the opposite sex, I think your point still has merit. Women can easily see how much sex men are willing to have and assume a higher body count would be average and make their decision on that. Men however could see how few women are having sex and make their decision on that. Like if someone is ready to eat apples all the time, you’re probably going to have more leniency in what becomes a weird amount they eat. But if someone -
-doesn’t reallt seem to like apples, you’ll have a lower perception of what is a weird amount for them to eat. Of course other factors could be at play and skew results, but it was a 24 hr Yik yak poll I did in my free time. Regardless Ives had a lot of interesting conversations like this one!
