Also, you’re absolutely one of those evil fucks. OP just got told to get r*ped and you’re trying to argue that SHE’S just as bad as HIM? Nah, you’re definitely on a list.

There’s definitely a problem with men committing or threatening to commit sex crimes towards women/girls. You saying it’s not a man thing is reductive and part of the problem.

upvote 2 downvote

I cannot express how reductive these kinds of comments are

upvote 12 downvote
default user profile icon

Respectfully, if u can’t decipher that the vast majority of men are not like this, and have virtually no control over the ones who are, then u will alienate our allies

upvote 8 downvote
default user profile icon

IMO it should be a conversation about how we can spot potential harmful people and not harbor them together (unfortunately happens in many different communities!)

upvote 13 downvote
default user profile icon
Anonymous replying to -> #1 1w

I didn’t say all men are like this. However, an alarmingly large chunk of you are and it’s important to address this. You should be more offended about what the evil maniac said to the OP instead of getting upset with her for saying “why do men?”

upvote 7 downvote
default user profile icon
Anonymous replying to -> #22 1w

I am appalled from them, but they didn’t dm me so there isn’t much I can do about it unfortunately. I have no power to report them, however when generalizations come in it only widens divides

upvote 10 downvote
default user profile icon
Anonymous replying to -> #1 1w

I’m not really upset, it’s just a framing that leads to toxic and unhealthy mindsets

upvote 8 downvote
default user profile icon
Anonymous replying to -> #1 1w

You could’ve responded with “I’m so sorry this happened to you, no one deserves this. Hopefully you reported them,” but you instead decided to go the “not all men” route. No empathy on your end, just “not all men.”

upvote 3 downvote
default user profile icon
Anonymous replying to -> #22 1w

Ok bro u clearly have no desire to have a conversation

upvote 2 downvote
default user profile icon
Anonymous replying to -> #1 1w

Maybe upset wasn’t the right word, but you were certainly more bothered by her caption over the threat she received. Responding to women’s negative experiences by saying “not all men” is part of the problem.

Bahaha and neither do you, “BRO.”

upvote 1 downvote

Ur the one downvoting and mad 😭it’s a toxic mindset that is not good. People that dm OP are not savable, but OP is someone with a good heart and can learn!! I’ve been sexually battered multiple times (and yes this is not nearly what many women go through I’m not comparing) unfortunately, I do not say “why do women” in ask women cause ik that’s not going to help me and will only create divide. Because there are widespread problems and when there are generalizations it actually doesn’t do what is

Lol you wouldn’t be getting downvoted if you hadn’t done the typical man thing by saying “not all men,” that’s on you lil bro. Well I would certainly hope you don’t go around saying “not all women” because it’s obviously not at all the same thing, you’d just look like an incel lol.

upvote 5 downvote
default user profile icon
Anonymous replying to -> #22 1w

I mean it’s just u downvoting me but ok lol. Perhaps actually ask questions and work for solutions rather than say a generic phrase that literally just causes divide 👍I would gladly be on board

This is precisely the problem with so many of yall tbh. Instead of offering empathy or your condolences when women talk about their negative experiences with men, you guys always have to hit us with the “not all men.” Women usually say “why do men?” as a reaction to centuries of misogyny and violence at the hands of men, but a lot of you just don’t wanna admit that.

upvote 14 downvote
default user profile icon
Anonymous replying to -> #22 1w

Ok yes exactly we are getting somewhere! I think we can find a way to both offer empathy but also point out how this thinking can become unhealthy + not helpful we can find ways to both point out the issues and also not generalize to people (in any direction!)

upvote 6 downvote
default user profile icon
Anonymous replying to -> #1 1w

OP saying “why do men?” will never carry the same weight or harm as threats like the one she got and so on. It just won’t.

upvote 7 downvote
default user profile icon
Anonymous replying to -> #22 1w

I agree! But I’m not talking about equal weight, I’m saying how in order to build a coalition of men and women to fight a patriarchal society (which most men are victims in) putting away potential allies is not what I want

upvote 9 downvote
default user profile icon

Then educate men on how to not act like sociopaths and stop trying to control women’s language lol

I mean if they do sometimes, and when they do I may pull them aside after and say how while I recognize their experiences, phrases like that can sometimes make me feel “othered” or “tokenized” when it’s just me.
