It absolutely depends. My first thought has to do with teenagers. I would never let a teenage boy babysit my young potential daughter. I WOULD let a teenage girl. If my male best friend was available to baby sit while I’m away, I see no problem because I’m not friends with men who are likely to harm young girls.

Yes: My dad or brother, few of my friends who are either married or in committed relationships. Couple of the guys (single and not single) I’ve worked with off the top of my head. But same goes for the women in my life. There’s an extreme amount of vetting to be done before letting anyone watch my kids.

A random man, no. A random woman, no. Someone I know and trust, yes. If they break my trust, they are cut out from my life forever. Also, does not matter if it is my daughter or my son. Double standards make no sense to apply to children.
