I need to have a sit down talk with the guy I’m seeing to communicate some important stuff about our dynamic and our future relationship. How do I go about this? Should I bring it up on our next date? I don’t want it to be too late at night tho

Also I have a lot of things to adresss in this conversation, such as expectations for a relationship, communication styles, physical intimacy, exes (his), how often we see each other, etc.

Honestly, I think it's totally fair to reach out to him to tell him you wanna have a conversation about your relationship in-person, then do it there. You don't have to wait till your next date because you definitely wanna make sure he's listening to you and is willing to change issues going on with y'all

Def have a convo in person sooner rather than later but be careful ab bringing up everything right now, you run the risk of making him feel attacked or cornered, which is not conducive to an equitable conversation. And if i mayb suggest wording things as to your feelings and your needs rather than criticizing his actions, that can help in not making him feel cornered.

The next time we text I can bring it up, that way he has time to mentally prepare before the in person convo

It’s complicated…we were seeing each other for a few months earlier this year but I left because he wasn’t commiting. But this time he wants to and I feel better about it. I’m planning to ask if he still wants to be my bf

I think it's good to be upfront though, and it's probably best to get this conversation done as soon as possible as it isn't fair for the original poster to have bottle all this up

I know User 2 disagrees with me but personally, I do think this is something worth talking about with him in-person as soon as possible because it's good for you all to have open and consistent communication. Successful relationships are very reliant on that, and if he's a good person, he'll want you to express these feelings and wanna work with you

Should I start with asking if he still wants a relationship? And then bring up maybe just 1 or 2 things?

Yeah maybe bring up the most pressing thing first and also let him know there are several other things but you dont want to overwhelm him

I agree with User 3! I think it's good to start with the things you wanna talk about the most so that it doesn't feel all at once for him

Yeah even disregarding how it could make someone feel criticized or attacked, its just overwhelming and makes it hard to consider everything in depth if its all being thrown out at once
