that sentiment is NOT universal lol I was a Girl Talk post or something and the post was joking about how boys can’t read (that Girl Talk is for girls). That’s a simple harmless joke, haha, all good. So I posted a comment saying like “I’m a guy and sometimes it just pops up on my feed and I don’t realize it’s Girl Talk”. And some girl was replying like “holy hell, why can’t you FUCKS just leave us alone. This is OUR space. Learn to read. We don’t FUCKING WANT YOU”. Like damn
Both, in different ways. It was never lonely, but also there was no privacy. Lots of things that other people just had for themselves, had to be shared between us. You always had people to have hang out with and have fun with, and were also always at each others’ throats. We were basically our own best friends.
It’s also safe to say that being on the older end I got a different experience than some of my younger siblings. My parents started basically straight out of college, so when I was little they were still pretty young, had less disposable income, got more individual attention because there were less of us and they were less burnt out and new-parent stricter. Later on when there were more of us we were stronger financially but they were more spread out time and energy-wise.
There was a lot of shit that I feel they were stricter about when I was young which by the time of my younger siblings they just gave a lot less fucks about. They also just had less time and energy to spare for things like mediation between us, so to a large extent we were essentially forced to learn to work out our own problems ourselves instead of trying to go to them. There was also a lot of onus on us the older siblings to look out for and set examples for the younger siblings.
