i got asked out once and i just told her that i was already talking to someone. that's it. i said i appreciate them reaching out though

I was “asked out” before and was told one of the girls in their friend group liked me (middle school-ish age). I don’t remember all the crap they pulled but I think it’s a reason why I have trouble believing it when people say they liked me/am completely clueless when it should be obvious

i just personally don't see why that one thing that happened in middle school would make you distrust an entire gender, when we all did stuff like that back then.
