I’m tired of telling a story and someone responds with “boys will be boys” Do yall really think that’s true? I think everyone can and should take accountability for their actions no matter the gender. Do yall think those stereotypes are actually true? -W

I’ve never heard anyone say that for anything that wasn’t harmless

I'm really sorry you dealt with that. I'm a guy and agree with you completely, it's never okay to say that to someone when they were harmed by a guy. It's on the guy to not be a bad person and I think people equating people being abusive and cruel with masculinity is concerning

Nah you def shouldn’t excuse anyone over the age of 5 with “boys will be boys”.

I’m a woman and someone once told me “boys will be boys” after I said I had been sexually assaulted which I thought was crazy

Roughhousing, getting dirty, doing stupid fun things that would equate to. There’s a fine line with a guy being a bit wild or being a complete asshole/degenerate

I'm so sorry that happened, that's absolutely awful and those people are sick, both the people that did that and the person who said that to you

Was going to comment the exact same thing. These people shouldn’t be defended regardless of their gender. I’m also a guy and I’ve also been SAed

I agree. They’re conditioned by society to be like that. Women have sexual urges just as strong or maybe even stronger sometimes, but they control them. SA from women is still possible though (even if uncommon), and the gender of the perpetrator doesn’t make it any more or less valid.
