A longer definition (stupid word count lol) of negging would be making commentary towards a person in efforts to manipulate and undermine their confidence so they will continue to try to seek approval from them because it's under the guise of them being interested. In turn it would make it seem like you want them once your vulnerable enough when they wanted you first, thus more likely to agree to date them or have some kind of relationship.
