Do some guys actually think they'll score if they are mean to a girl? I was eating dinner with my friends and these guys came up and one wouldn't stop pointing at me and saying I have a rbf, a bitchy face, and that I look mean

Then got upset when I didn't want to talk to him and instead wanted to eat my canes. Like he insulted me first out of nowhere? I did not know this man, and then turns out he's in his 30s

“If he’s mean to you he likes you” was always something that was said. As a guy I don’t understand why some dudes think that will work. I got my gf by loving her and her showing me that she loved me back

I think there's a difference between being mean and a playful sarcastic statement like "omg you're the worst" within proper context but if you aren't already close with someone humor like that is not going to go over well and comes off as mean. Idk why it's so hard for men to be nice. Like if you like her act like it

When I’m playful teasing and do it right, it works. The problem is that men teasing each other if WAY rougher than women teasing each other so many men wouldn’t know the difference

So based on all these things some dudes try to do this stuff and it’s very stupid

Some guys think they can make friends by being mean to other guys. It’s not because you’re a girl, it’s their personality.

Short answer: yes, but I think it’s stupid. I think it’s only friendly to ragebait when it’s obvious that it’s a joke. I don’t flirt via ragebait unless I can guarantee that the girl knows that it’s a joke. I also avoid body shaming and such.

Maybe they mean it as banter but you don’t take it that way

Also if it pokes at any real insecurity or something deemed to be 'bad' that's just mean

I mean, if a random came up to you off the street looking like they might fight you, and calls you a bitch face, would you take it as banter? I was so put off

That’s like, with 7 year olds, not adults

It’s a metagame strategy. They challenge you and put you on the defensive so that you feel the need to defend and validate yourself to them. It tends to work on people with an egotistical or competitive personality and trap them in a conversation to win the challenger’s approval. It didn’t work on you because you’re a normal human being.

it shouldn't even apply to 7 years

7 year olds don’t usually have the same level of emotional development and maturity that adults are expected to have, so to young children, all attention is good attention. They are mean to someone they like because being mean to someone is still giving their time and energy to that person. That’s why you often see kids misbehave when they feel ignored at home, because even getting in trouble with their parents still means being focused on by their parents rather than feeling invisible.
