I’m trying to lose fat. Right now I’m eating 1600 cals per day (usually a little less) and I’m like moderately active. I burn ~ 500+ calories per day plus taking 8-10000 steps per day walking to and from class n stuff. Will this help w fat loss?

I would focus on weightlifting over cardio. Muscle building burns A LOT of calories. And you’ll see change way quicker. Side note: do not worry too much about your weight. Try focusing on how you look and feel

I’m on like week 4 of this but I feel like I’m not seeing results and I unfortunately don’t have a scale to weigh myself :(

Something is wrong here. Either with your estimates or otherwise. On average the human male burns around 2000 calories for existing and living a semi-sedentary lifestyle add to that ~500 calories of burn. You’re eating 1600 calories, meaning you burn 1000 calories a day in fat that isn’t offset by food. 1lb of body fat has 3600 calories. So every 4 days you should drop a lb. And you should be down ~7lb total.

If the caloric deficit is to big your body kinda “freaks” and holds on to fat. It will try to store as much nutrients away as possible since it thinks you’re starving. Calculate your basal metabolic rate(there are calculators online) Once you factor in your exercise, I’d try and sit around a 500-1000kcal deficit. That’s 3500-7000cals or roughly 1-2 pounds a week. As long as you eat enough protein and lift you should be able to lose mostly fat.

You should be in a deficit like that. Just make sure you’re getting your protein and sleep so you don’t lose muscle.

As long as you’re building muscle your metabolism will increase, make sure you eat plenty of protein as it helps you grow muscle and stops cravings. You can eat complex carbs to help fill you while not having to take in excess calories as they take longer to break down

Sometimes when you have a ~1000 calorie a day deficit (it’s a large % of what you used to eat) your body slows your metabolism, so if you’ve lost anything in the realm of 5lbs I’d consider yourself on course. (As an aside for the girls, your body obviously goes through cycles that can raise and lower the amount of water in your body, consider weighing yourself month to month to get more accurate results)

Still. Weight lifting burn A LOT of calories. And even if you’re buff, the muscle repair burns plenty of calories. Much more efficient than cardio
