Do super attractive men feel like they have to act hyper masculine and unemotional with their girlfriends? I feel like that's what my bf is used to, and he's confusing a healthy relationship with being in love with me way too early into our relationship

I don’t think I’m super attractive but I am somewhat and I don’t really care about acting hyper masculine and unemotional with my gf. I plan to marry this woman so if I have to be something that I’m not to have her in my life, in terms of hiding how I feel and putting on a front, then I’d rather not have that type of person in my life. That being said, I am extremely lucky that my gf accepts me for who I am unconditionally.

It doesn’t have anything to do with how attractive a man is, but the lessons ingrained in him by society. I also think a lot of men are wary of being too emotional as it can sometimes backfire in relationships.

Why would I talk to a woman about my emotions? They will be weaponized against me by them at some point, I’m not about to fall for that lmao. A trusted longtime male friend for advice is more reliable. I don’t need to divulge my emotions, I can simmer in them, be patient until I can think clearly about the situation, and get help from wise people who can actionably help as needed

Its just kinda how you grow up. Attractiveness could be substituted for ego or upbringing. Ego could be caused by said looks

Idk man, maybe you need to find different girls. I love my boyfriend telling me how he feels because I want him to feel safe and happy. I would never use that against him

The wording should be replaced and the meaning still holds.

Maybe, but unlikely imo. This has been my experience with my mom, sisters, female friends, & the 3 relationships I’ve been in so far. They’ve said they want openness only to then ridicule me in someway from what I shared to make me lose that sense later on. It’s anecdotal, but I don’t enjoy repeating mistakes & try to learn from what happens in my life. I don’t hold anything against women for it, still love y’all, but I just accept it as a quality of women normatively & keep moving ahead

I think there are less pretty elements to male and female dating that are deeply engrained socially and biologically that are just hard to shake. Like some men might prefer a partner who is very deferent, passive and looks for their protection and some women want a partner that is stoic, unflappable and decisive. It’s just about recognizing how these mental models impact how you treat your partner

I don't believe I'm one of the only women who wants what I do. It's mostly about what sort of social circle you're in. All of my girl friends are very left leaning or slightly alternative and want the same sort of relationship that I do
