no, cold approaches are a bad idea regardless of what you look like. you have to get to know a girl before you can say “hey girl wassup”

Sure but what is the alternative? It’s hard getting to know people you don’t know

regularly attend a bar or club (or even your classes/job), and just chat with people. be polite while maintaining respectful distance. smile and wave to people when you enter a room, and say “hey, how are you”. listen to people and get to know them. you’ll make friends, some of these friends will be girls, and if youre lucky some of them might like you as much as you like them. but dont think a girl will like you just because youre there. if its not happening, its not happening, so move on

This is lowkey bad advice. If you establish yourself as friends first, then that’s how they see you, a friend, and when you express romantic interest they’ll feel like you’ve been using or deceiving them to get close if they don’t already want to go out with you. You’re better off to make your intentions clear right away. As long as you ask them respectfully, and respectfully take a no if they say no, then there’s absolutely nothing wrong with being forward about what you want.

You can flirt with your friends, there’s nothing wrong with that, but unless one of them already secretly wants to go out with you it’s just not a good formula for finding a long-term girlfriend.

i do think its important to be honest about your intentions from the start, and making friends with the goal of finding a relationship is always a bad idea honestly. you gotta let love finds you… i think. but i dont understand this idea that youre going to find someone that you like enough to date, without them already being your friend. that could be due to a lack of experience on my part, idk

That is what simple first dates are for, getting to know and spend a bit of time with someone you are interested in. Go somewhere for coffee/ice cream/lunch, see if you can maintain a decent conversation. You don’t have to already be in love to go on a date.

sounds inefficient tbh

Less efficient than already going through the process of getting to know them and fall for them only to find out afterwards that they never saw you that way to begin with and aren't interested, and then needing to get over them and move on before beginning the whole process again with someone else?

sometimes feelings are mutual. but pining for someone is really the worst outcome. if a one sided crush happens, its ur responsibility to fix it. option 1 is to organize a bunch of meetings with a bunch of girls from dating sites, social media, or in person encounters. option 2 is to make friends and be happy with them, until possibly yall get close enough that you fall for each other. depends on if any of ur friends are open to dating friends ig

also if people have a preference for strictly separating their platonic relationships from their romantic and sexual relationships, then option 1 makes more sense. from my point of view, i see some pros and cons to both

Or option 3, you see someone who’s kind of attractive and think you might be interested in, so you go up, tell her you think she’s kind of cute and ask her if she’d like to go out sometime to get to know each other better. If she says no, you say ‘thanks anyway, sorry for bothering you’ and move on. If she says yes, you see how things go as you learn more about each other, and either keep going out or don’t depending on how it goes.

two things: i have social anxiety, and i do have success with making friends and flirting, but im still never doing a cold approach if someone cold approached me, id disregard them unless they were incredibly hot or charming. also if im in a location not meant for socialization, my first impression of them is confusion and annoyance, because i keep to myself in public. google backs me up in saying that cold approaches rarely work

if you want to run a poll asking if women would respond positively to that situation, i suggest you do that on onlypolls or askwomen

why would u want to cold approach anyone when you can go to a bar, club, meeting, or mixer? those spaces are designed for socialization. it just makes more sense to chat up girls in that environment than literally any other occasion
