In my experience it’s far more rare to find an intelligent, committed right winger but they exist and (as a left-leaning person) it can be helpful to listen to their arguments so you can refute them

Intelligent right wingers are really really hard to find. They’re usually very opposed to the current administration and generally all modern politics.

Also to add on, there has been research proving that educational level is correlated to which party you vote for, learned about it in a class but there’s still dozens of articles and studies if you want to look that one up

It has to do with Trump being populist and racist. For a long time there were plenty of smart rich wall street journal reading country club republicans. Those people are rarer now, at least among the politically active. I feel like they're still there and let Trump do their dirty work of appealing to,the masses with cultural wedge issues and then getting in and cutting taxes and everything but they aren't as conspicuous.

No you definitely have, they just didn’t discuss politics with you. They’re your professors, your doctors, lawyers, et cetera.

I know three Trump supporters who are all very smart and very good communicators. That’s a minority though, there’s a lot more left leaning smart people from my experience, I think it has something to do with picking a trophy wife instead of a partner who is actually smart.

As a right leaning liberal (after much growing lol) I have to agree. I spent much of my time surrounded by far / heavier leaning right wingers and honestly. Reflecting back I’m ashamed at what I allowed to be said and didn’t oppose.

We feel the same about left wingers so could be argued you’re the stupid one. How is this not common sense? Obviousely each person thinks their party is superior to the other, it’s not a groundbreaking revelation to make.

My family is right wing and they’re not stupid, they just have a different world view from most college students. Mind you I’m more left leaning myself. Although they’re definitely not Trump supporters, only the real hardcore ones are these days
