As another guy, I’m kind of curious why you feel this way? I mean to me it feels like you are reading into too much what you see online, but idk. I don’t mean to invalidate your feelings or experience, I’ve just never felt this way about it.

As another guy, I’ve been friends with a lot of women who’ve been sexually harassed that they don’t trust any man they meet. It’s most likely for protection

Ive had some bad experiences just complementing women platonically. I still try to to it sometimes but there are lots of women who do not take kindly to men being around them unfortunately

It’s definitely true that not everyone likes it, or that maybe they assume the worst due to their own personal experiences, which is also worth keeping in mind. I also think sometimes it’s not so much that they are offended in anyway, but maybe shocked or taken aback or dk what to say

No my platonic girlfriends like it when I compliment them. I usually compliment their outfits or general appearance, but if it’s physical never anything specific unless it’s about hair I guess

I compliment men’s outfits way more than women, but I do it sometimes. Idk if I make it clear that I have no further intentions like it’s in passing, I’m willing to do it

Most people seem flattered, and if any aren’t I don’t put that on myself. But idk this post isn’t about platonic compliments anyways

That isnt really relevant tho? Like yes I also complement people’s outfits but in doing so have had some bad reactions. And that reinforces this uncomfortably of talking to women i dont know
