I saw this Chesterton quote again recently and wondered what others would think about it. "Tolerance is the virtue of the man without convictions."

Tolerance is a marker of respecting the autonomy of others. For example, if I went solely off that quote, I have no convictions for allowing people that don’t follow my religion to live (if I had no tolerance of other religions then the next logical step is to remove them). I, despite my wholehearted conviction that my religion is the one true religion, respect the rights of others and recognize their own autonomy, and thus am tolerant of them and sometimes admire them, for their beliefs

Depends on what we’re tolerating - bad behavior? No. Someone wearing slightly funny clothes? Sure. Someone having different beliefs about what happens when we die? Yeah go for it.
