That’s because that’s not what rebound means. Rebound is about the emotionally vulnerable state someone is in when they just got out of a serious relationship. It doesn’t mean they can’t form one, it just means they are more susceptible to seeking comfort from people they wouldn’t normally consider dating.

And that can be a good or bad thing. It might mean they give someone they’d previously been overlooking a chance. It might also mean they use bad judgement and overlook serious character flaws or poor chemistry to make it work.

Tell him how you feel. Tell him you know it hasn’t been too long since he got out of his past relationship and you don’t need an answer from him right away, but let him know that if he feels ready, you’re interested.

even if they broke up 5 weeks ago and I’m practically a stranger? we haven’t met mutual friends but I’ve never talked to him, not even on snap. I feel like I will tell him what u said but maybe I’ll wait a bit until we’re more familiar and hes had some time to get over his ex

I’m not saying tell him you’ve been watching him for years. Just introduce yourself and tell him that you’re interested.
