Misogyny, men who act like that feel like their manhood is in jeopardy if they percieve a woman may be more successful or powerful than him

idk it makes me feel belittled like my achievement and work it took to even get here was something that you just brushed off. even men older than me don't even respect it as an accomplishment. i don't get it.

I’m sure some of them are being weird and insecure, but some of them may just be sharing something they feel is something you have in common. I hear people say “oh yeah I was going to do engineering then switched to something else” all the time too, and think nothing of it. If they’re saying “well I *could’ve*” without having actually done anything medical at all that’s weird, but if they’re saying they’ve done anything medical related they’re probably just finding common ground

It could be yes or it could be that they’re insecure of their struggles. Me personally, I don’t like how I’m taking more than 4 years to graduate college because of health + disability-related issues. To me though I find female engineers very attractive 😍. Like yes. It’s already hard enough to be a man of color in a field that’s dominated by white women, let alone be a woman in a male dominated field.

In my opinion, a guy acting that way is being misogynistic and he isn't someone you wanna be friends with or be with! Anyone respectful would be happy for your success and be curious to learn more

I love successful women, but I’d say that since men are just used to be useful, they just want to be useful and not feel like a burden since that is just how most of them were forced to live like

I’m sure some are if they’re insecure, congrats on med school and all the hard work it took to get in! Keep up the good work and make sure you deliver for patients!

Men generally don’t care about the education levels of their prospective counterparts. The main thing for most guys is like “is she going to appreciate what I’m bringing to the table?” Because it’s not all $ and status. Men generally protect/provide as long as they feel appreciated. So I’ve seen dynamics where the guy is a cop and the girl is something in the medical field technically making more $ but she appreciates he’s a protector while she’s a healer… something like that appears to be

Only women believe the myth that men are intimidated by careers. Majority of GenZ are single and the bar for women is below the floor (and they still can’t get past it). Way below anything to do with a career.

The winning combo. BUT… I’ve been in one of those before I went back to college where both of us would come home bringing the stress from work back into the house, and it slowly ate at the relationship until we split. Both of us were near top of our fields, both of us loved each other, but both of us bringing that much stress home was unsustainable.

i'm not even talking abt men im trying to form a romantic connection with im just talking abt random men i meet. i have boyfriend and this isn't abt him. so yeah i don't care abt what this random guy in a social gathering is bringing to the table, i just don't see why they immediately try to convince that they could've achieve what i'm achieving. they sometimes role their eyes at me like i'm bragging even though they r the ones who asked me what i do!

Like that’s a him problem then. If a grown man balks at what you spend your time doing professionally… as long as you’re not like… dealing fentanyl to middle schoolers, that guy has to be an extreme level of insecure.

It wouldn’t be “intimidation” then it would be more like… yeah there would be a percentage of men who are insecure about their status enough to feel like it somehow makes them less than achieving their potential… but I figure that’s more of a lack of intelligence + insecurity thing than you’re intimidating them with your presence sort of thing.

you getting your feelings hurt by "society" is not misandry. misandry only exists as a result of misogyny.

Women getting their feelings hurt because men don’t date her ass and blame on her having a likely overpayed job isn’t misogyny 👍

Respect is earned among men. And money/titles = status went out the window as a respect thing among men during covid when the government was just handing both of those things out. For men, you don’t get what you deserve, you get what you work for. I mean this in the most humble way possible, if you expect respect based on a title you hold, you likely will only find it among other people who base their value off similar titles.

Respect is always and only EARNED. Never expected. If you feel disrespected, you haven’t earned. Crying misogyny will also certainly not gain you respect either.

Men aren’t intimidated by women with careers, men are competitive with people who act like they’re better than them. “They immediately try to convince me that they could’ve achieved what I achieved” sounds like you have some kind of superiority complex where you feel like you need to be praised for doing what others can’t.

i also feel like this is BS, bc my bf is also in medical school and never has interactions with men like i do when he tells them. in fact they usually congratulate him or tell him good on him. one time it was even followed up by a man making a joke i only went to medical school to follow him! 🙄 when that's actually where we met! well during undergrad. I just don't see why it isn't the same for me
