I’ve been told by people in my industry to use my looks to get a head up. Like by Including myself in social media posts and looking good. Is this morally wrong?

dont do it if you arent comfortable with it but an unfortunate reality is if you want to get ahead in your career you might have to play the corporate ass kissing game and if you dont you may be stuck in the same role and salary while the less deserving but play along get promoted

look bro, use you looks, but only you and God know whether or not you’re manipulating people with them and as someone with that privilege you should stay diligent about the effect it can have on people. take care of yourself for yourself, using vanity and being obsessed with how you look because it’s the lifeblood of your income or career has never panned out, Hollywood is a prime example. If you want to live a life for a moment in spotlight you sacrifice pieces of yourself, we all know this.

Acting in a way that is more about what you are then who you are will always leave you emptier than before. I suggest you ask someone closer to you, but not someone who just wants to tell you want to hear, if ur religious, and pious, pray about it

I am not religious. And my career has nothing to do with my looks, it was more about pretty girl in picture = better advertising

Okay you don’t have to be religious, use basic logic to look into the sustainability of vanity, use history, use literally any other lens or whatever you wanna call it to do actual research into the effects vanity has had on the world

Why do you think I’m being vain? I don’t have excessive pride in my appearance. I’m simply self aware that I’m a conventionally attractive woman and could use that to my advantage in social media ads😭

I’m saying you’re not adding anything of value to your industry or the world you’re just doing the same hyper capitalistic sell out shit that is destroying our generation, I’m encouraging you to be different and try to gain engagement ima more creative and healthy way

Who says I want to add value to my industry? I simply want to be successful and afford to live. In this capitalist system where the only ones who thrive do it off the backs of others who’ve been exploited, shit if I can get more engagement by looking good I’m going to do it. It is not on me to fix the system, I am one individual person. And it would be stupid of me to not use my pretty privilege to my advantage

So you’re basically saying, because the world is a shitty place ur not going to try to make it less shitty, and just trying to have the best time you can in spite of other people because that’s how it was set up! Wow stupidity and a lack of a spine or any real purpose is still alive and well. The capitalist system isn’t the only way to live, you just want to do what’s easy.. I hope you change your perspective because nothing of value is easy. you are the reason ppl who care, worry for the world.
