Your standards might just be too high for the men in your area

Do you initiate stuff? Maybe guys aren’t aware you’re interested

So many unknown factors we don’t know about you. On paper you sound great to be friends with at least. It could be that you’re giving certain social signals that drive guys away. An example (not saying you are) would be you’re giving off too willing to Go with anyone you talk to. The common reaction to this example is dam shes very accessible, but on the other end, a real one could interpret that as of course she’s friendly to everyone but chooses me to spend her time with. its a slippery slope

So I don’t know if you can relate to this but I think the reason why I can’t get a gf is because I’m overly affectionate and kind and friendly even to people I don’t know, and I also miss people I don’t know well and get attached to people easily. And I’m also autistic and have struggled socially my whole life. And even though I’ve been hurt so much by the world I still try to help other people and want to become an SLP.

How are we supposed to know based on that information? 😂 That’s like texting a mechanic, “Why won’t my car start? I changed the oil and swapped the tires.” Dating is tough even for kind and beautiful people. Hang in there.

What is too high though? I have been told that my standard of a guy cleaning up after himself is too high

Dating discourse is so poisoned because there are a lot of men who are genuinely trying and failing to become bf material, but they don’t know how to ‘try’ in the way women want

I asked this guy to put his dish in the dishwasher or the sink and not just leave it on the table or counter. He said that was too high of standards. That’s the stuff I don’t understand

How do I make guys aware im interested without seeming “weird”

Just saying you’re interested or that you’d like to spend more time with them would work. It takes a lot for people to think you’re weird, and if it doesn’t then they are likely not going to be a good partner for you anyways

idk it genuinely depends on your geographical location and your type. There are more tall men in the upper midwest. There are more country boys in the south. There are more finance bros in NYC. Even then, you might not be setting yourself up for those guys' standards.

Oh and some people assume people who are overly kind and affectionate and friendly to strangers have bad intentions, but I think that applies more to men.

I don’t care about height at all. I probably wouldn’t date a finance bro though as every one I have met has been weird towards women. I would date a country boy if he’s nice. I don’t think my standards are that high honestly. They’re just like clean up after themselves, be kind to others, communicate feelings and boundaries, etc. Those things I listed we ask of kindergarteners too so I truly don’t understand how some guys find that too high of standards

I think your head is in the perfect place. It’s not about having “high standards” in general it’s about being smart about where you apply standards. You’re absolutely right applying high standards for hygiene, cleanliness and kindness. Being open to dating people of different heights, looks, and backgrounds will put you far ahead of a lot of people

Yeah I guess dating is rough these days because you're not asking for much. I just know some women are very particular these days and it's holding their dating lives back.

Yea I think most guys would be happy to at least try to meet the standards OP set, and the ones who genuinely think being clean or communicating is too much are in no condition to date. Another problem is that some guys don’t want to change and think women only reject guys for things out of their control

Absolutely. That same guy who didn’t do his dishes then apparently told his friends I didn’t like him because he was “short” (he wasn’t even short so idk what he was on about). Dude no it’s because you were gross
