He gets defensive when I ask him about where this relationship is going, and he snaps saying we'll figure it out later when we're financially stable but that eventually we'll have a family. We both comfort each other being together and we keep each other good company and are a bit attached, but realistically I don't know where this relationship is going. I don't want to break up, but at the same time, I do? When I try to break up w him he starts calling me names and gets defensive so we stay tg

Doesn’t sound very healthy to me, him not being willing to discuss with you these things is also not a great sign. You need to be able to have difficult conversations with your partner

My thoughts exactly. My partner needs to be willing to have these hard talks w/o getting defensive, otherwise, it's going to make long distance very difficult
