i think my gf has an eating disorder. she won’t eat more than 700 cal a day. idk if that’s good or bad. i just know her mindset around it is not well. she’s allergic to dairy but now avoiding all types of food. what do i do?!

700 calories a day is brain damage-like symptoms numbers. There is no safe or reputable diet that calls for this.

Unless you’re eating way too much, you don’t usually lose weight by just cutting out food. It’s all about eating healthy stuff (nutritional, useful calories) and exercising enough. Most people who are severely overweight are just sedentary. They have an office job, never exercise, and / or eat lots of junk food

she keeps saying she’s just on a diet though. she doesn’t really workout a ton. it makes me sad bc she’s such a foodie at heart and that’s something we bonded over. she’s gorgeous, but not society’s standards. probably medically overweight but still beautiful. if she feels like she needs to lose weight, so be it. i just want her to do it the right way. ughhhh i just dk what to do…..

No thats not a diet. A very very strict diet is 1200-1400 and even then thay is not enough for most people

i just dont wanna make assumptions about her body though, yk?! i just am really struggling. and every time i remember how stressed this makes me, i think about how she must feel. i guarantee you her parents said something that kickstarted this. UGH. sorry to rant

I mean thats not an assumption it just is physically impossible to survive on that longterm. Now how to approach this idk tbh I wish I could help with that

yeah thanks man appreciate it. maybe she’ll hit a goal weight or something and go back to normal. in our two years of being together, she’s always eaten really healthy. like if she was a fitness influencer she’d be praised for eating like that. but bc she’s not, she’s a “wannabe who’s not committed”. idk. i’ll talk w her maybe

Sorry but once she reaches her goal weight her brain will already be deteriorating to the point she doesn’t see it and still thinks she’s fat. She is starving herself and her body will slowly start to atrify(?) and consume her bones for calcium. EDs are so bad.

i’m really scared i just can’t imagine how she must feel

You don’t need to imagine how she feels just understand that she feels how she feels and why. Try to meet her there and show her how beautiful you think she was before and how worried you are at how fast she’s changing now. Get her to a nutritionist (an actual nutritionist no AI)

she plays d1 vb and eats very healthy 24/7 i mean even on our first date she stressed about whole milk in her latte. but i think it’s all catching up to her.

That’s definitely a disorder then. Once it goes from eating healthy to an obsession to avoid calories, you need help. You don’t get in shape overnight, it’s a process. Starving yourself does way more harm than good
