I’ve had similar experiences as a guy, but for me my body will react physically, but there is nothing happening emotionally. My improvised solution is just that I’ll only make out with someone I’m romantically involved in and do it more for their enjoyment/show of affection

Everyone has different things they enjoy. I enjoy kissing because it makes me feel closer and more intimate with my partner. But I’m flexible enough to do things they enjoy as well

I feel the same way about kissing, it’s pretty much exclusively a romantic activity to me, I’ve made out with hookups in the past, but finding someone I was romantically attracted to made kissing actually feel like something real. To me, kissing is in the same boat as all the silly little things like wanting to hold their hand or see the smile in their eyes which I’ve only felt with one person
