In the business we refer to these types as “assholes”. Much like their namesake they spew nothing but shit. They are about as representative of men as Mean Girls.

Misogyny is baked so deep within male socialization that most guys do not even notice how obviously sexist they are. It comes from a place which places men at the "natural" top of the pecking order, tying domination with masculinity. As a result, men are emasculated by any act of a women which calls into question his notion of which gender calls the shots. It sucks

i just found out some of my lab partners have been talking all semester about how much they hate me and the other women in our group and i just don’t get it. i got screenshots, and they’re all like “5/10 is talking” or “she needs to stop texting she thinks she’s all that”. we’ve NEVER been mean to them. is it because they think we’re ugly? because we have boyfriends? what is it that makes them hate us?

Same reason people hate any group. Its a convenient group of outsiders to place blame upon for some shortcoming in a person life.

Some areas of criticism/resentment I have for women are the rampant misandry online, general lack of accountability, and the double standards I see. In your case though they’re clearly just misogynistic assholes, anyone can see that. Maybe they don’t think women belong in the field, maybe they find women’s behavior and mannerisms cringy, maybe they can’t see women as anything other than a sex object
