Struggling to find employment and the employment that’s available pays terribly

Focus, anxiety, and mental health struggles that I don’t even know how to begin to get help with even though I know what steps I should technically take to solve them since they involve either money, conversations with people who I don’t want to disappoint, and the aforementioned anxiety getting in the way

No hope for ever owning a home, no hope for ever having a family, no matter how much I work I see no payoff, feel trapped

I’m fully aware that I have all the abilities necessary to accomplish my dreams, but at some point, it became extreme hard to remain focused on one thing at a time and to stay on a good routine. I have bursts of productivity followed by periods of nothingness. I went from being able to succeed at almost everything I do to only being able to do things like score near perfect on every test, but end up failing the class, and I don’t know what to do to reverse it

It’s like I can make small points of progress, but they’re so disconnected that even though they exist, they’re not really any type of solid foundation that I can use to keep making progress off of or show to anyway else as evidence of success. It’s as if I can create a bunch of tiny pieces that definitely have meanings, but never arrange them into a bigger picture despite knowing exactly what I want that final picture to look like

As one of my professors bluntly put it, “How the are you able to do all this extra shit, but somehow can’t manage to pass the fucking class?” I didn’t have an answer for him because I don’t know what’s wrong with me either. I can do all these other things with my talents, help other people out by leading groups, but I can’t manage to do the small, basic, insignificant tasks for myself in the background that are necessary to stay on track in things like classes at school. I just can’t find focus

Probably so, but before I swapped majors, I was worried that any diagnosis like that might hurt job prospects since in the area I go to school, the most likely prospects were things that require varying degrees of US security clearances (which I did have to obtain for the brief job I had), and I didn’t know how that would impact anything since I had heard rumors that certain opportunities were closed off to people with attention disorders

So I think for whatever reason, I still haven’t been able to get that concern out of my head

spoiler alert it was engineering but the US security thing probably makes that obvious lol

well tbf, how are you going to get a job if you can’t complete the tasks necessary for it 😅 you might be better off medicated and diagnosed than not being able to achieve what you want

you get diagnosed so you can get help and make your symptoms better instead of suffering and going in circles

This is a totally valid philosophical stance. If the Christian wants to throw a hissy fit then let him.
