I used to be homophobic until I had gay 2 gay roommates. I was never outwardly mean, I just was never an ally. But I remember us having a talk about dating as a straight man vs a gay man in the living and he dropped a banger. He told me basically “we are the only people on Earth who actually likes yall asses”. It made me realize 99% of men will only ever experience true desire from gay men even if straight women exist (straight women don’t like men or being straight, they just didn’t choose it).

One there are people part of every group that make being what they are part of their whole personality. You guys seem to only have a problem when it’s gay people… that whole “ I don’t have a problem with gay people. I just don’t like the ones that try and make me think differently about them.” realistically we don’t give a fuck about straight men. Someone making something their whole personality has nothing to do with you and your personal life so therefore you did not answer the question.

Your comments on this thread have been really homophobic and transphobic, and I think you'd benefit from reading and hearing more about the experiences of gay and trans people. Almost all gay and trans people aren't trying to convince people who aren't to be like them too, they're advocating for acceptance and equality as they face a lot of prejudice both by institutions and people in their lives to conform to cis/straightness even though that doesn't represent who they are

Homophobia is an issue with a lot of people regardless of their identity. It's unfortunately always been common and still is. In some ways, it's gotten worse as there's pushes by alt-right people in governments to remove rights for gay people

no kid has ever gotten bottom surgery. it doesnt happen. no doctor would ever administer it, and no psychologist would ever sign off on it. blockers arent permanent, they just delay it for as long as you take them. if they decide being trans isnt for them, they can stop taking the blockers and live a normal life. but we’re talking about GAY PEOPLE. NOT TRANS PEOPLE. jesus christ they are not even close to the same thing.

Little kids play, they like to pretend, they are curious, but parents need to bring them back to reality than affirm anything at the drop of the hat. There are parents who condition their kids to be something they aren’t to make themselves interesting instead of waiting for the kid to be mature enough to understand what they actually feel

I will say I am Christian in the sense I do believe in god and the Bible, however I do not agree with Catholics in many regards (and truthfully I view that denomination as a scam that you can’t directly pray to god for forgiveness) but again this is what I said I don’t have anything wrong with people being with who they want to be with, it’s pushing ideology upon others in an aggressive manner or using vulnerability

a lot of people seem to misinterpret what puberty blockers are for. They can be given to trans/questioning kids with psychiatric approval to delay puberty. They are not hrt, and when you stop them, you go through puberty like normal, whether that’s then influenced by hrt or otherwise. The entire point of them existing is to be given to kids in order to let them make that decision later.

i’m sorry but children begin puberty around the ages of 8-13, they can’t even drive a car yet and they’re making the decision to delay biology. plus at those ages, parents can have a lot more affect on children than you realize. i know it sucks to have to wait until you’re an adult to make biological decisions, but it could be saving some from making a permanent decision they might regret in the future. it’s the same reason you have to wait to be an adult to get tattoos or pericings

i understand that being trans is not a choice, but you need to understand the influence of those marking it as their personality. the problem with this is that a great percentage of children that see it as a more social movement. again, i’m not saying this is fair for actual trans people, but this is not a solution, especially because this treatment is relatively new and we don’t have long term evidence of its effects. take hyperthyroidism as an example, slowing down your bodies ability to

produce hormones. the effects of this are not healthy for a human being. again, it’s not fair but we’re all dealt a different hand at birth and that’s just how it is sometimes, even if that means not being able to physically change your body until you are an adult.

I’m not sure you’re understanding my point here, the point of puberty blockers *is* to not change anything yet. It’s the alternative to just starting hrt early enough to not get overlapping puberty effects. It isn’t changing the body, it’s *preventing* the body from being changed by puberty in a way that the kid doesn’t want. it’s not synthetic hypothyroidism either, it’s only blocking specific hormones.

try a generic example: a kid, just starting to experience male puberty, is heavily disliking the increase in body hair, and doesn’t want their voice to drop or any male shape changes. they’re planning to transition. If they don’t get any medication, and transition as planned after turning 18, they will have a difficult time retraining their voice, waiting for e to reshape their body again, and shaving more often than they could’ve for the rest of their life.

upvote 1 downvote
default user profile icon
Anonymous replying to -> #8 10h

if they immediately get hrt, the transition will be easier and align more with a cis girl, often the absolute ideal case in their head. However the effects such as breast growth would be hard to undo if regretted later. The other option is they get blockers, delaying their transition. if they then change their mind, they experience standard male puberty, later. They have a small chance of side effects we haven’t observed yet.

upvote 1 downvote
default user profile icon
Anonymous replying to -> #8 10h

Blockers seem like the most sensible middle ground to me, keeping in mind that they’re already only ever prescribed when patients are basically certain they want to transition. The risks of a not yet witnessed side effect possibly occurring does not outweigh the harmful (for them) effects of going through puberty in the wrong direction first if they do transition.

upvote 1 downvote
default user profile icon
Anonymous replying to -> #8 10h

puberty blockers also aren’t new, like, at all. They’ve been used to treat kids with conditions that cause early puberty for ages before they started being used for potentially transitioning later, and even then they’ve been available for a long time. people act like they’re a new thing because it suits their opinions
