Does anyone else constantly fear that they’re secretly gravely ill and dying? Like “huh I’m feeling oddly tired today. I must be developing cancer and this is the earliest symptom.” Or “what if im walking around with a growing tumor somewhere in my body”

Well not any more… I did have a giant brain tumor that was slowly making blind. It was compared to a grapefruit or a baseball. After the surgery I spent 2 weeks in the ICU. And a year later I needed proton radiation to get fully rid of it for good. Bits it’s all good now. If anything else was wrong, my doctors would have caught it by now… i hope lol 😅

I live in a constant state of “what if [x symptom] is actually because of [y problem]” immediately followed by “no that’s ridiculous.” Last week I felt a sudden stabbing pain in my abdomen and immediately jumped to “what if it’s an ovarian torsion or a kidney stone” instead of “hey what if it’s just an acute cramp” (to be fair this was the night before my my period came 10 days early so I was not yet expecting to have to brace for cramps)

I get pretty frequent nose bleeds just because I have super dry nasal passages, but I saw this show when I was a kid where the main character saw a doctor for frequent nose bleeds and it ended up being leukemia so that’s of course the only thing I can think of when I have a super long nose bleed (it has been cancer literally 0% of the time and I clearly already know what causes the nose bleeds)

I had a brain tumor removed a little over a year ago! What was your diagnosis, if you don’t mind me asking?

I went to the eye doctor for my vision and THANKFULLY that dr told me straight up: “your vision has worsened SO MUCH that I don’t feel comfortable writing you a prescription. Go to the ER RIGHT NOW and tell them X,Y,Z and have them do a CT or MRI”. I was referred to neurosurgery from that ER. That optometrist, LITERALLY SAVED MY LIFE!
