I told someone that my anxiety was getting way worse (like puking bad) and they told me to just try to breathe more

I mean it’s hard to tell out of context, but it’s pretty likely that they were just trying to be helpful. When you tell somebody your problems, unless they are directly responsible for said problem, the best anybody can do is say “oh man that sucks”, or offer advice that they think might be helpful. For most people who only have minor bouts with anxiety, breathing IS actually helpful, so it’s not unreasonable for them to say that.

Hey OP I actually struggle with this same symptom of anxiety (puking) - you’re not alone. My tip is it sounds counter intuitive, but if you feel yourself getting anxious and feel like vomiting, don’t run away from the feeling - face it head on, sip some water, and let it pass. I wish you healing!

⬆️ Me when I tell the person with ALS to “just exercise more” if they don’t want to lose muscles function. (That’s now how it works at all)

but you still didn’t answer me. you can’t expect someone who’s never experienced it the way you do to answer it perfectly for you..

intentional breathing does help in people with anxiety so are they wrong for saying that?
