My roommate leaves the dorm a mess and it’s affecting my side and my sanity but I’m too scared to say something to her

ok before reaching out to the RA just send her a text saying something like “hey i’ve been noticing that the rooms been getting kinda messy lately and i was wondering if we could possibly set some time aside to tidy up a bit” that way it doesn’t come off confrontational and if she tries to argue it or give you attitude that’s when you take pictures of the mess and screen shots of the message and contact your RA but going straight to them could just lead to unnecessary tension

As a former ra we would tell them to go talk to their roommate first before stepping in

RA’s are useless. It’s confirmed. Mine never did shit but I wasn’t sure if it was just mine

One of my roommates in college made racist remarks about black people, so I reported it. All WHILE DATING A BLACK MAN and being pregnant with his baby which she later aborted (she was not black). They gave me a different room in the other side of the building, and that was the end of that.

Sometimes they are helpful, but my school was/is very progressive.

I think it’s worth saying how you feel and that the messiness is impacting your mental health and that will ultimately affect your studies. If there is no improvement, leave. But before you tell her that speak to the RA about the process of moving out if it were due to those reasons bc you foresee it going down that path since you’ve already mentioned it and felt dismissed.
