Genuine question: are anxiety attacks the same as panic attacks? Because I have anxiety attacks all the time but I swear I’ve never had a panic attack

It’s kind of debatable. Many people with anxiety use them interchangeably. In psychology, there is a minor difference in symptoms and a big one in causes. Many psychologists use a strict definition that a panic attack is not caused by something that makes you anxious, and if there is a clear anxiety-related cause, that is an anxiety attack and not a panic attack. Symptom-wise it is very difficult to explain the difference, but I would generally agree with #1

no, i’m not the best at describing this stuff but anxiety attacks are normally over a way longer period of time, more drawn out and more on anxiety/nervousness, while panic attacks are shorter, more intense and heavy on like, immediate, and fear rather than anxiety/nervousness.

nah theyre not. i always *thought* I had panic attacks until I REALLY had one lmao. you’ll absolutely know, it feels like you’re dying and out of control and you gasp for air because it feels like you’re being suffocated. thankfully mine only last 1 minute or so
