Hot take but I don’t like that anime is popular now. As someone born in 2002 I’m old. I’ve been watching anime since 2007. I don’t like all the biggest arcs now becoming movies. There were so many websites to watch for free, the comment section were

Amazing. The anime YouTubers felt more genuine. I get in Japan it’s different because it’s always been super popular and a big part of their economy but people in school were terrified to admit they liked anime even Naruto and Pokémon. The most you could get away with was DBZ

I agree with the movie part. I ain’t tryna go to a theater to watch anime, and it takes forever for them to get to streaming services. Even if you go to the theater, you can’t rewatch the fights or anything for a few months, unless you buy another ticket.

Exactly could you imagine having to go to a movie theater to watch any of the Big 3s major fights. Death Note Ls last episodes, AoT was already dragging on but thankfully those were episodes. From what I’m seeing Gojo vs Sakuna is pretty much going to be another movie instead of episodes. If anime wasn’t popular here like how it really wasn’t before Covid none of these new movies would be happening

You might be older than most people on yikyak but you’re not old if you’re in your 20’s. In the grand scheme of things, people in their 30’s aren’t even old. Old is like 40+.

I also feel like anime movies (in theatres) should make sense without watching the show. So either it’s the beginning of the series or it’s something like JJK 0, where it’s a prequel that requires no knowledge from the anime to understand. But it is lowkey genius what they did with Infinity castle. A decent amount of people who hadn’t seen demon slayer binge watched the series to go watch the movie in theaters.

RIGHT?! Like sooo many people didn’t even know the characters 😭 some of my friends who went with me asked me where’s Ichigo and I said excuse me and they were like the orange haired guy you like with the bankai sword and demon scream from TikTok. I went one time alone as well. I get it’s for the money and money is obviously very important
