Naruto peaked in the chunin exams and after the pain arc especially has only continued to fall off

I see it as an irrelevant (and much worse) spin-off. as far as I care, if kishimoto wasn't listed as the only author for a part's entire run, it ain't canon (exception for the itachi prequel novels bc they were fully canon compliant)

Interesting take, I feel like the Shinobi alliance war was their best arc. Boruto manga is getting really good now too but to each their own

To each their own but thinking the shinobi alliance war was the best arc has me flabbergasted

I like the fact that almost every character in the show had to some type moment, they brought out a lot of legendary shinobi with the reanimatation jutsu. They are also some really good fight scenes and epic deaths. Might guy vs Madara gave me the same feels as Rock Lee vs Gaara and then to top it off Naruto and sasuke settled their score once and for all in an epic showdown. Top tier arc

It had some good fights but bad power scaling/destroying the ceiling of a universe in a way that feels pretty cheap to me really takes me out of a show. Naruto was best as a ninja show, and the final arc was just a giant wizard battle that completely betrayed the world building in of itself. Junins became fodder for the sake of uplifting known characters, the stakes and tension were simply not there for like over half of it either.

can see why folks who started the franchise after boruto launched may not see them as separate entities and may even like boruto, but I found the way the series nerfed the original main cast, made the happy ending pointless, and made the main cast slowly turn into the exact people they SWORE they would never be to be really disheartening to the original series's message of friendship, hope, and ending cycles of hatred. it just always felt like it was made to milk more money from naruto's success

The type of arc to come around specifically so you can give your characters feats that can be used for power scalers to determine the next death battle winner
